Thread: premod makeover

    premod makeover

I recently replaced my pre-mod Xion 2 case with a gorgeous CM stacker 832

so its time to hack up the old case!

here it is sitting on my new workbench, which is tons better than the grubby table i used to mod upon

nibbled out fan holes ( no money for a knockout punch)

a little space near the PSU for wire routing

and feature #1 of this mod

replacing the stock plastic with modder's mesh! which arrived the next day

(carbon fiber film, squeegee, u channel trim too)

I also used the box from MNPCtech as a template for the mesh

    a test fitting

    and a rear-view

I'm going to pick up some thinner and clearcoat later, so i can prepare the mesh for final installation

I'm not sure how much more work will go into this mod, it'll probably end up a casual side project. But i do have a plan to do some lighting in the front, I just need to buy 4 LEDs and resistors.

It's looking good, wish you had given us a front shot with the mesh in, oh well it's still looking good and your doing a bang up job at it to boot. Keep up the good work and Happy Modding to ya.

cleaned and clear-coated; ready to go!

rear view (hadn't cleaned up the glue yet)

    and the installed front view

    flash and no flash

    taking the front X out

    pilot hole drilled

and the 1/4'' hole drilled, to route the wiring out the back

    three placebo LEDs

Next time I'm around the mall i'll have to stop by radioshack/the source and pick up the leds and resistors

Ummmm.... there's led's in there already! I'm sure you have a good reason to need more (don't we all), but it's still sort of funny. Looking good, pre-mods are always fun.

Looking good and I see why you are going to Radio Shack to pick up the 4th LED for the four legs of the X. Keep up the good work because I'm keeping a eye on this mod. Happy Modding to ya.

looks good, although i would have used honeycomb mesh instead of the kind you used

He did use honeycomb! Unless you mean the x, but that came that way.
