Looking for the best cpu air cooler

I need a little help/suggestion on what air cooling fan I should buy for my Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6700 (2x 2.66GHz/4MB L2 Cache/1066FSB). Thanks!

Looking for the best cpu air cooler

I think the best personally is the thermalright coolers. Like the True and the Extreme 120 are supposedly the best of the bunch. However they are only about a few degrees above everyone else. I personally like them because I think they are purdy. Plus they get great reviews so even better.

I second the thermaltake reccomendation, and scythe makes good coolers as well, such as the Ninja and the Katana. The zalman 9300 is a great cooler too.

This one looks pretty awesome and I have an option of putting 1 or 2 140mm fans.

I was strongly recommended into buying a copper type of cpu cooler. All of these are aluminum.... any suggestions?

Copper as a material has better thermal properties than aluminum, but since aluminum's lower weight allows heatsinks to be much larger and thus have more surface area for heat transfer. If they made a thermalright ultra-120 or somesuch monolith out of pure copper, there is a high probability that it would break off under its own weight if severly jostled. Also, copper is almost three times as expensive as aluminum. Hope that helps.

The Nirvana uses copper base and heatpipes with aluminum fins.

something you might want to check out. Just as a reference.

If you notice from most of the charts that even the best cooler (aside from the TEC's and the WCing) are only a few degrees difference between the top five or so. So don't beat yourself up about it too much. Figure out what you want to spend and then go from there.

Thermalright ultra? or Nirvana? I was thinking more of the thermalright ultra but I'd like to read up on your opinions before I buy the cpu cooler.

(The only thing that I do not like about the nirvana is the speed controller. It can seem very annoying having a fan speed controller outside of the case.)
