How should i please my fans for best cooling?...

Hey all - im just modding a new case for my PC....and would like to know how most would setup the cooling for my mod.....its a socket 478 old mobo, and i dont think itll get very hot...but it is going to be boxed up, so want to be extra safe.

Ive attach a picture in birds eye view....youll be able to see where ive cut a hole for my inlet 80mm fan.....im wanting to add another on the other side as an exhaust fan....need ideas please, preferably if you could edit my image advising where i should place my other fan

.....Also, should i have more holes in the case for air to exit on inlet, and exhaust side?

you ideally want your airflow to go in one direction that way you have nice clean air getting to your cpu and such but because of the way you have set it out im not sure how you would do it, i think i would get vent holes where the hdd is and for the motherboard id put a fan the bottom and to go to the top also just to ask what is this pc being used for? and how is that pci card going to be connected to the mobo??

**edit** forgot to metion, if you have a p4 in there it will get pretty damn hot lol

How should i please my fans for best cooling?...

    Questions....
1-Will the case be laying flat like it is in the images?
2-What will the cover be over the parts.
3-Which side is going to be the front.
4-Purpose of the case. Server. HTPC, etc.
    5-Is noise a factor?

All of these can affect many different directions to go with the fan layout.

    Thanks here ya go

1-Will the case be laying flat like it is in the images?

Case will be positioned upright and not the way it is positioned right now

2-What will the cover be over the parts.

The cover is a 4mm mdf board over what you see there, with a clear acrylic sheet to show the board, and cables going to it

3-Which side is going to be the front.

Front will be the side you are currently looking at

bottom side - Mobo connectors side (ie PS2/USB/VGA/Parralel etc...)...so its currently backwards if you will

4-Purpose of the case. Server. HTPC, etc

Purpose - a full time networked PC running VM, all for show to be honest...it needs to be quiet though as itll be in my room on turned on whilst i sleep.

.....ive already drilled a hole for the first fan, so hopefully i have screwed things up there already.

    Thanks

Just to confirm the correct layout that I/we are picturing from your description, can you take another pic with the mb in the final resting place where you are going to have it along with the other parts as well, also can you position your case to the way it will actually be used before you take the next picture, do two pics if needed. this will also help to give airflow and fan placement advice.

    Thanks

Ive attached pics of how it will be rested in its final state, and also with the lid on top....you can also see where the 1st fan is placed

Is wood dangerous for PC modding?
