Here is my third ION Case mod. This one is liquid cooled with mineral oil (does not conduct electricity like water does), the oil flows through a waterfall and goes over the ION board and then underneath it where the hard drive is. The oil is then pumped back up to the top of the waterfall. Not only does the waterfall add looks but it should also help cool the oil. The best solution for the blu-ray drive is to have it external to keep the case small, but you could easily expand the base and place it next to the hard drive having it open on the right side of the case. The hard drive and blu-ray drive would need to be sealed from the oil (because of the spinning parts). Heat sinks could be placed on them to help draw out the heat into the oil. The power supply would be the picoPSU to save more space. The pump power could be tied into the psu (recommended) or could have its own plug. Also plexiglass could be put over the top to protect it and keep out the dust. Lights can be added for a more dramatic effect.

Kool. In engineering liquid cooling systems are known to be more efficient than air ones, one of the things you can do with mineral oil is to use it as a dielectric in high voltage capacitors, so yeah, it's an insulator and more than one person have already use it as a cooling factor,I think this is a very valuable experiment and the manufacturers sooner or later would have to start offering systems based on liquid cooling design., oils are also thicker so i don't know if a regular water pump will help ,check in this factor you may need to surch for a iol pump that have the enogh power to pump the oil and that also keep a very small profile ..:-)

The idea brings up some problems with oil cooling. The connectors would need to be sealed somehow, and the oil needs to be pumped through a radiator to cool it.

The motherboard is on an angle so that the connections are higher than the water level. A radiator is not necessary to cool it, a board this small doesn't give off much heat. If you were to run this computer 24/7 then you might consider a radiator. You could easily have the pump go into a radiator if needed then back to the top of the waterfall.
