i just replaced my 8600 with a 240 ddr5 memory. well see how well it works. 9800 has been the solid performers per kW hour or at least i have not encountered one that could match it and this is just a repackeged version of it with faster memory.

I jumped to a 4870 but I think the F@H software is not liking it....it blazes through the calculations, but seems to stick at getting another packet.

I'm going to upgrade into the 5xxx series with my christmas money. Not sure whether I should go with 5770 or the 5850 though. Either one should kick the pants off of my dual core processor client though.

From what I understand ANY gpu client kicks the pants of the cpu one. The gpus are meant for these kinds of calculations I guess. If you happen to have a PS3 I heard those just tear up everything!

i do agree that the ps3 is quite powerful still even though it has been out for awhile, the cpu is 7 spe's @ 3.2ghz running 218gflops and the gpu is a custom nvidia chip 550mhz running 1.8tflops. with the cell process or fah has been given the ps3 clients way advanced cores to simulate due to the flexibility from the cpu but is the middle ground between cpu and gpu clients i average 6 to 8 hours per work unit on my ps3 which gives me maybe 1200 ppd

and the ati are great cards and solid performers but i am a nvidia fan myself, i would love to see what the fermi gpu can do. let me know on what the ppd is on those cards, i dont know if they have as many shading processors as the nvidia ones do. that would be quite the thread - nvidia vs ati for folding.

sorry i havn't been around and i know its late but i like to say i hope evryone had a good christmas, i know i did. and have a great new years
