    THOR case mod by Americanfreak

    Hello everyone!

I, the returning winner from 2013, is ready to kick some more ass in 2014.

My choice this year from the chosen theme, Comic Book Characters, is THOR.

I picked THOR as I thought it gave me a lot things to put into the case mod... I hope.

Plus I get to play with a THOR's Hammer

Work on the THOR case mod begins

I want to say thank you to our always great sponsor for our Staff vs Staff Mod Off Thermaltake!

Thermaltake supplied us with some great hardware to start off the mods.

So here is my very basic idea about the THOR case mod. Of course you have to have the hammer and it will placed at the top of the case. My second thought is to place his chest amour on the non windowed side.

With some vinyl transfer tape I laid out an idea about the chest place. This is what he wore in the last THOR movie.

I wanted to try and make suit look fairly real and found some rubber like sheets at my local hobby store. It has a good texture to it and flexible enough to form onto the side panel.

I printed off some reference images and used some construction paper to create some patterns to transfer to the rubber material

So here is the basic layout after creating most the chest plate.

Here I wanted to create the lines in the first part of the suit, which in the images showed it was ridged, but the thin rubber foam I could not actually make the ridges.

To stick all the pieces together I will be using a spray glue. Quick and easy to use.

After painting all the pieces and putting them together (except for the round disc) I have a good idea what the finished product will look like and while... I don't think I like :-(
I will continue to would on this one to see if I can get it to a look I like, but I keep thinking I should go back to my original thought about using the THOR: Dark World suit.

Ehh... thinking the chest piece looks to cartoon-ish. Will do some air brushing on it to what happens, but I have a funny feeling I will be starting over on this.

I would just like to point out that Dewayne has a binderful of Chris Hemsworth photos as "reference".

Coming along nicely Dewayne. I think you just need a bit more depth is all. You could simulate that depth with air brushing, but it will still be flat. Maybe stack some layers two or three high and glue them together to get more thickness, then round off the edges.

crowTrobot, at least I have a reason to... right now. At least I don't have posters over my bed of Tom Hiddleston as Loki like some one else does

Actually I have repainted it and it does have layers to it, about 3-4 and there is more detail going into it as we speak.
