Sapphire X1950 Pro 256 MB PCIe

Sapphire wants to make sure that you get the most bangs for your buck. The X1950 Pro could be the card for a reasonable price. With the new Native CrossFire, Core RV570, Shader Model 3.0 vertex and pixel shader support along with other features you just have to take a look.

Meh, the blue isn't all my thing. Powerful enough though, I must say.

I personally like that Sapphire makes their cards blue. I get tired of the same ol' look alike red PCB. I think black would be cooler tho.

Anyhoo, great review AF. Only thing I can say is I think a lot of people would have liked to see some 1600x1200 benchies but other than that good stuff.

Well AF and I both have a problem on that end. We are both using 19" LCD's that limit us to 1280 x 1024 res setting. Hmm do I pull out the ol CRT and start from scratch?

Sadly not everyone is as poor as us Tazz. We might want to break out the CRT's just on video card reviews. There are those that game over 16x12 even and would refuse to play on 1280x1024. I have met quite a few resolution snobs. heh. There are other reasons as well but people like to see benchies where they run them at.

Significantly lower? lol. Basically, if they don't like those benchies, then they won't like the higher res ones.

Good point there Sheldog and I will think about it on the next review. I have even seen some sites do the LCD/CTR thing.

I can't say that I have a cheap LCD I paid over $400 buck for the NEC I have and it has a response time 4ms. I think I will add a question to this post to see what ppl run their games at.

I'm running dual 17" CRT's @ 1024x768. I was running a 19" CRT until I replaced my wife's 17" CRT with a 19" LCD and I got her CRT and then swapped with my mother for her 17" CRT for my 19". I would love a dual 19" setup but until then I'll stick with the dual 17". I can't see going back to a single unit after using this dual setup. I love it even if it's only 17". So now you know what I game on.

Well high resolution LCD's are becoming the norm now. You can get a good high resolution monitor for under 300 now. They are just going to keep getting cheaper with better specs too.
