    Simple (HDD-)LED controller

My HTPC has a very bright HDD LED on the front of the case which I want to shut down. It's connected to the HDD LED front panel header on the motherboard, so thats no problem disconnecting.

Instead of not using it at all I would like to controll it from the computer, so that I can use it as an alarm LED for something (temperatures, mail, whatever). I've been looking for a simple controller, but I havent been able to find anything. I just need a controllerboard, hopefully connectable to an internal USB/SERIAL header, that will make it possible to turn the LED on or off by sending a cmd-command to a driver interface.

I don't have any electronics experience, so I need some tips on where such a board could be found. Hope anyone know about a solution.

    Thanks in advance,

I don't think I've heard of anything like that ready made. You would probably have to make it yourself.

You might have to do some programming but this device would do the trick...(plus you can hook up a few other lights...) _id=306
