    update #2 Skyrim Mod 7-23-2013

Not a lot of paint applied today, however, I did get started pretty good on the blending in of the Dragon wall. using the tree bark I layered it together and shaped it to fit to the top panel and dragon wall sides. I did throw a tad of primer on 3 pieces just to get a feel for it. Still have quite a bit of bark to lay out before it is finished, but overall I am pleased with the results.

BTW, my vision was to have the dragon wall cut out of stone on a mountain cliff sort of outcropping, hence the feathering down of the rock (bark) layers.

Stay tuned as, it is about to get down to the wire lol

Finally a day without rain! yeah!

Ok, so today I was able to finish the outcropping for the dragon wall and most importantly get all my panels sprayed with the two base coats. I didn't have time to take but a few pics of the dragon wall and one of the panels in the two base coats. I have not mentioned this before, but I will be doing something a bit different than the norm this time, the mod exterior will be hand painted. Yep, that's right hand painted over the top of the base coats. I started with adhesion promoter then I sprayed a texture coat of the hammered metal silver, and followed up using a good primer coat to give the hand painting something to stick to well.

I hope to have a few more pics up later tomorrow or this weekend, as I reassemble and have the case hand painted by two of my favorite artists. I will mention them a bit later.

For now here are a few more pics.

Added more touches to the other side as well, you may not notice them.

A straight on view of the dragon wall. I left the underside open a bit for airflow.

The final primer gray base for the hand paints. Has a slight texture to it to help with the smooth stone worn look.

    More to come soon.

The calm before the storm. all panels now ready for hand painting etc. One more pic before my two favorite artists get started painting. Now, time for me to get a few other little tidbits done.

Here we have one layer, of several layers to go before it will look anything near the finished project. The girls are doing a great job so far and hopefully it will turn out the way it was envisioned.

I sure am glad this paint isn't affected by weather and dries fast! lol

More to come I am sure.

Honestly, I have not gotten to play the game yet, so I was going off game images posted in Google images. Also, it is sort of an experiment with the hand painting, that and well I wanted to get my daughter and her friend in on the art work, so it would seem more like images from the game rather than something else.

I challenged the girls (both art students, one already in college for art the other a Senior with 3 art classes) on this one, as rock and mountain scenery are not their forte in art (they do mostly Anime and Manga). But hey, you gotta try it all or you will never know what you can achieve.

No matter how it turns out, I am proud of what the girls have accomplished and for the chance to show them a few things about computers they would never know without opening a case.

Dude, this turned out awesome! Is there any coverage of these mods at QuakeCon? I went through all the pics on FB and didn't see any of these. And who won??
