Pictures coming shortly. I will be starting out with all of the equipment that has been donated. This is a fully sponsored case. This entire case will be put together using parts that were donated to me for the express purpose of creating a computer that will blow the doors off of the competition, and make for an exceptional item to be auctioned off to benefit the Dallas Stars Foundation.

All of the parts were donated to help this project and eventually, the children of North Texas. This case will be auctioned off at the Dallas Stars Casino night in March. *ALL* proceeds from this case will go to the charity. The vendors have dontated their parts, and I am donating my time to create a very special case that will hopefully open up wallets and earn the Foundation a good chunk of money and give some lucky bidder the one of the most incredible computers ever built!

This case is going to be a vicious hockey case!!!

this is a placeholder... right now... for what will be a most EXCELLENT Dallas Stars case!

Stay tuned for rapid updates! Wink

Ok folks...
hold on to your hats...

You are about to get a detailed listing of all of the equipment that I have recieved for this most worthy of charitable causes... the children. Because, in the end, that is what this is all about. "Yes", I get to build another computer, but I will not play this machine at all. Might burn it in for stability... ok, ok, maybe I will playtest with everything to insure that all of the pieces work together properly... but that is it! Wink

But, this most awesome machine, will go into the waiting hands of the Dallas Stars, and will be auctioned off and all proceeds going directly to the Dallas Stars Foundation, and thusly to the kids of North Texas. So, in my very competitive way, I hope that I make this case look good enough that the bids get high, the end user pays more than we would, and that my machine raises a lot of money! Because folks... the hardware is insane!!!

Here we go:

First up on the sposored items list is Coolermaster. They hopped on immediately, earlier this year, without missing a beat. The crew over at CM assisted me by providing a stellar, all aluminium Mystique 632, a CPU heatsink, and some case fans. Now... I was *certain* that this rig was going to be an AMD rig, but that was not in the cards. Unfortunately, my certainty got in the way of better judgement, and I told them to ship me a CPU heatsink for an AMD AM2 rig. Well... I am not going to be using their stellar CPU heatsink, the brand new HyperTX, on this machine due to my mistake. However, be watching for the reveiw of this product in the comming days here on Modders-Inc! I have most of the review done, I just need to get my thermals and installation pics taken properly, but this unit is an absolutely stellar performer as well as a looker! The Mystique 632 is just a beautiful case! I like the look, and I have ideas on what I want to do with this case, and the 632 lends itself to it perfectly!

Mystique 632

CoolerMaster heatsinks

HyperTX (AMD)

Hyper6+ (everything)

Rolling into the next vendor that just rocked my world, EVGA! When you are building a machine for the express purpose of generating excitement and making people want to get into a bidding war... you need a compelling reason to *want* to bid.. to want to spend lots of money. The afore mentioned case will be customized, however these internals will light up any geeks night! EVGA stepped up BIG TIME folks! I was shaking when I opened the box...

their top of the line 680i motherboard.

as well as, *gulp*...
TWO of their top of the line graphics cards, the 8800GTX!!!!

SLI is going to be insane on this rig....

....

.....

....huh? Oh... sorry... was staring at the video cards! Wink

Well... all of this power will do you no good if you dont have space for your games... and Seagate answered the call with their new perpendicular (PMR) technology, 7200.10 750GB 3.5" SATA hard drive!

Thermaltake jumped in with support by donating one of their Gamma Pads for some mousing bling and goodness!

I have my choice of top of the line mice! Logitech donated a sweet G5 mouse, and I had an Acid Green Razer... so, if I completely blow the mod on the Logitech (not likely!) then I can fall back on the Razer. But the G5 is my primary. I love my Logitech mice!

Corsair jumped into this mix and donated one of their highly regarded HX620 modular power supplies. I cannot thank them enough for participation! Unfortunately, due to the graphics cards I recieved, I outstripped the PSU! Originally, this machine was spec'd with an SLI of 7600GS cards, in which the PSU would have worked flawlessly. However, I am now looking to other vendors for a replacement PSU as this unit is the highest capacity unit that Corsair is producing. Modders-Inc folks should be looking for a review of this unit in a few weeks, after I complete this mod! But I wanted to thank Corsair for participatin and donating to such a worhwhile cause. It is the spirit of this mod, the spirit of caring for your community and being willing to donate to causes like this that make Corsair an important contributor, so thank you. Your PSU will not be wasted, I promise! It will have a high profile case mod in the future, of that I can promise! Smile

The Processor, I won it at a LAN party a few weeks back... it is a Pentium Extreme Edition 955 LGA775 Shocked Shocked Shocked

Memory, on it's way to me, is from none other than Crucial!!! And they are dropping in a 2GB (2x1GB) set of Ballistix Tracers!!! PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 modules for some bitchen performance and some serious bling internally!

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Bill out at MNPCTECH dropped me a "cooler than cool" custom billet aluminium blowhole kit! These babies are new to the site, and are built to last! I swear... this stuff just screams "class"... I feel a bit overwhelmed! Wink Seriously! This is my first exposure to this equipment... and it really is classy! Cool Cool Cool

Altec Lansing, not to be left out, "spoke up" (snicker...) with an incredible, brand new, in box and just released set of their 5.1 speaker system, the FX5051!!!! Whomever gets this rig... will not only look good, and spank everyone they play against... but they are going to sound good doing it! Wink

Believe it or not, this is not everything! Shocked I still have more in the pipe, possibly developing into more for this case! But for right now... I am exhasusted... need sleep! I will post more as I know it!

Stay tuned here and watch the log! Tell your friends! As this is the one of only 2 places you will see this build log! I promise you, you are going to see something special. I'm going to set the expectations now... this is not going to be highly ornate. It will have to travel with hthe Stars for a few weeks prior to the auction. It needs to be somewhat durable, so my modding decisions and color coats are going to be decided by that.

I'm not going to go and give away everything I am doing... heck, that is what the log is for! The journey is fun part!

So... stay tuned. This is going to be one hell of a charity item! And remember, this *will* be up for auction at the Dallas Stars Casino Night happening in March! So... if you want a shot at it, this beast in all of its glory will be on display just begging for your wallet to come too close! Wink

I would like to take this moment to thank someone in the community. Without whom, much of this would have *not* been possible, Rob Williams over at Techgage.com. I was seriously lacking technical contacts with many of these companies. Rob put his neck out for me, and his representation to the companies pocketed me several of the vendors that have donated to this project. Do yourself a favor, and head over to Rob's lil corner of the Intarweb. Good, classy group of people over there. Thank you Rob! I hope I have not brought down your "property values"... Wink and that I can somehow repay your kindness and trust someday. (I have an idea, but we'll discuss that later!)

Folks, hang on tight... as it only gets better from here! Razz

Now that is a unit that I could put on my "I want List" and then to top it off by having "tech-daddy" assemble it. Now that's a unit that will be talked about. Please keep us informed on the progress of it. Happy Modding to ya.

Good morning everyone!
I built up a test bench that I purchased during hte Black Friday festivities over @ XOxide.com (url=http://www.xoxide.com/hspc-topdeck-tech-station-14x95.html]clicky here for the station[/url]

I am planning on installing all of the hardware and getting the OS setup to insure that this thing works properly. You can count on the fact that I will be posting pics of this thing on the bench! Wink

Hoping to have it all setup, minus the power supply, this evening. Come to think of it... I could likely use the Corsair HX620 to power the motherboard and a single 8800GTX, and install off of that, I think that will work! I can setup the SLI test later on! *yay!*

More later!

WOW! OUTSTANDING!

What a super nice system and it just make you feel great to be working on a PC that will used to help children.

I predict that the system will go for about $10,000.00 USD

It'll upgrade nicely into a quad when the eventual owner purchases it.

The OS was donated by Altex Electronics, www.altex.com

they are a local Texas supplier of all things geek! Wink

I could have this thing running Vista, but I chose XP since this is going to be a gaming rig, and I wanted to insure games and drivers would work flawlessly.
