This will be my second mod. It will be much more involved than my
previous project. I will be using an old Dell Dimension case that my
soon-to-be wife bought in college. I've given it some upgrades over the
years (more RAM, better CPU), but it's time for this old dog to get an
extreme makeover, geek-style! I'm going for an over-all Watchmen theme,
inspired by the Graphic Novel/Film.
Inspired by NVIDIA's NVISION '08 event, Tony "TAZZ" Day unleashes his Modding Skillz to bring forth a hot mod that glows Nvidia green!
.... So after talking about it a little, I started playing with some ideas for a mod to take down with me. Seeing that this is an NVIDIA event, and seeing that I do run NVIDIA hardware (no I am not a fanboy). I thought why not do like everything else is, and go GREEN. I whipped up a few photochop ideas and started playing with them. ....
Hello Folks,My name is Greg (Stimulus), and this is the story of my first “real” computer modding project. I
have built computers for years for my work as a 3D
modeler/animator/instructor (Game junkie). I had got a 3x 8800GTX sli,
air-cooled rig that overheated all the time, so I decided to try liquid
cooling to resolve this problem.
I know there is a group of people that do case mods to their consoles, buy you don't see them as often. So when you happen to see a Playstation 3 all tricked out you just have to stop and take a look. I had not thought about it until I saw this mod that the PS3 does look like a famous hotel on the Vegas strip.
Well this a case mod that even made me go WOW. The smooth look and lines really set this case mod apart from the rest. Made from a Silverstone TJ07 the "Murderbox" is certainly has a killer look.
Case Modder mcnaryxc wanted to make something that was different than most case mods done from the game Portal. After finishing the game he knew that he had the idea he needed.
Ever see one of those projects and you feel like you just have to make one. When I saw Mayhem's C-Macc's 2 "Complete Multi arcade computer console system" I got the itch to mod so bad it hurt!! Sure I've seen many many MAME or standing arcade replica's. Heck even a mini Donkey Kong machine. But none done with so much grace and style. This is an arcade that will look good in today's gameroom. All that and they rig in the heart of this machine is a beast as well. Read more for pics and links to the incredible worklog.
What do you get when you combine a built from scratch case with multiple systems incorporated with an ungodly amount of storage space? Throw in some Crazy UV and water cooling, not to mention a built in LCD? What you get is one Monster system.
Scratch Built mods are personal my favorite. Cube shaped scratch built are my double plus favorite!! Who doesn't love cubed mods? Well this Mod by Phinix was two years in the making and it was well worth it. Built from different layers of Acrylic this cube compacts an impressive punch in a small space. It's even includes water cooling! That's right he managed to shoe horn a 220 Radiator inside there somehow. Click on the link to read the full worklog.
Here is another sweet Cooler Master mod by the "Coolmiester". This one made for Zotac and is quite impressive even in this nearly finished state. He seems to be about 90% done with it and already you can tell it is a world class mod. The airbrushing on the side is stellar as well as the overall paint finish. Though the modifications seem subtle they are brilliant and really add to the overall beauty of the ATCs 840 case. Click the link to check out the worklog over at [H]ardocp.
This sweet case from Million-Dollar PC has been making the rounds on the Interweb today. It's a brilliant piece of work with a nice clean look. It's a ground up mod that keeps everything compartmentalized and Water cooled. You can thank modder Pius Giger for this beautiful and original creation. Click the link to see that gallery images.
"This was a triumph. I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction."
I can't think of truer words than those when describing Ultraflip's amazingly clean "Aperture Science" mod inspired by the game "Portal". Some Amazing work done all around. It's one of those mods that seems understated until you really start to check out the details. Please check out the worklog in the forums for the step by step making of this incredible case.
Check out this crazy laptop mod. This mod features fully functional Commodore 64 laptop using actual hardware,
specifically the C64C motherboard which was one of the last and
smallest revisions. It uses a Gamecube power supply in place of the
original power brick.
For storage there’s a device called the 1541-III DTV to “emulate” a floppy drive using an SD card.
Remember back in the day when the SNES was super hot? Well it is again,
but in a different way. This time you can set the cartridge to the
level of burnt you want. Check out this toasty hot modded gaming system.
