Title: 6in LCD Lexan Case Mod
Written By: Americanfreak
Posted On: Fri, Apr-07-2006

 Introduction:

This mod will show you American Freaks installation of a 6 inch LCD into his case Lucid Dream.  Keeping with the theme of his case AF utilizes two Lexan mounting brackets to mount his 6" LCD.

 Page 1:

After seeing a few other mods that featured a small LCD n them, I knew it was something I had to do. I tracked down and purchased a 6 inch LCD from Parts Express. Link: LCD 6" TFT-LCD Video Module with Brackets Part Number 205-048

The LCD with the protective cover off.

Along the top are four buttons that allow you to adjust the color and contrast, so keep that in mind when planning your mod as you made access to them at some point. The only two connections that are required is the power and video. Both are located on the back side of the LCD.

The Stand...

Not wanting to cut a hole in the front of my Lexan case I decided that I would make two brackets to hold the LCD in place. I figured that the case would protect the LCD and since the case is clear I would have no problems seeing it and it would continue with the clear case theme.

I used Lexan to create the brackets, it was really simple design. I wanted to mount it through the bottom of my case so I will drill out 4 holes and used #6 stainless steel sheet metal screws with washers.

Here I measured and marked where I needed the LCD to attach to front of the bracket stands. In the next few pictures I will show you how I did it.

After setting my marks I clamped down the piece to be drilled. ALWAYS secure what ever you are drilling. It is safer and you will get a better end result.
