 Description:

The addition of a HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) to a home entertainment system is becoming more and more common these days. A consumer can easily build a PC to handle their digital audio and video needs at a reasonable price. From a DIY (Do It Yourself) point of view, there are endless options available. Today, we are going to take a look at one of nMedia PC's newest HTPC cases, the HTPC 500BA.

 First Impression:

nMedia System, Inc. was founded in 2004. The company's vision is to create future home entertainment PC systems that are optimal for today's consumer electronic gear. They want to transform the total home theater experience by intelligently converging digital entertainment AV functions, computer and networking technologies. They are committed to delivering a strong value to a number of wide selection of entertainment and market segments.

The nMediaPC HTPC 500BA comes packed in a large plain brown box. It is well packed and padded to prevent any damage from occurring during shipment.

With the HTPC 500BA removed from the box we can see that it's also bagged to give it extra protection. This also prevents the unit from having any fingerprints during the packaging process.

The HTPC 500BA is a HTPC 400 with a complete redesign. They wanted to make the full ATX HTPC desktop even more compact, while keeping the full ATX support for the motherboard and power supply. The HTPC 500BA accepts 3 hard drives and up to 6 PCI devices. It also comes with an included 20x2 MCE VFD display module. The case measures in at 17"(W) x 5.25" (H) x 16.5"(D) and is built of aluminum and steel.
