Nirvana NV120 Premium CPU Cooler

Introduction

Here lately it would appears that size does matter when it comes to CPU cooling on air. Looking at the picture of the ZEROTherm Nirvana NV120 CPU cooler we can tell that this thing is huge and the Nirvana NV120 shows us a different style right off the bat with its black finish on the cooling fins. Using a 120mm fan coupled with a heatpipe design, we should see some pretty decent numbers produced by the Nirvana NV120 CPU cooler.

First Impression

The ZEROTherm Nirvana NV120 CPU cooler comes in a bright eye catching box. From the front view you are able to get a view of the coolers 120mm fan and a side view of the cooler itself. To the left of the window you will find the key features of the NV120. Flipping over the box you can see the full specs of the cooler as well as a few installation shots of the cooler.

Removing the contents of the box you will find the cooler and its hardware nicely packed in a clear plastic container. The cooler is held in place fairly well only allowing for a tiny amount of movement.

You will find the Nirvana NV120 cooler, User Manual, Fan Controller, AMD mounting bracket, Intel mounting bracket, and a small bag with the mounting screws for both brackets, some thermal grease, and a few foam self adhesive pads.

On the left we have the Intel mounting bracket and backplate. The screws for securing the bracket to the backplate are pre-installed on the bracket. The AMD bracket on the right will use the stock coolers mounting bracket and backplate. Installation on the Intel setup will require removing the motherboard. The AMD users can bypass having to remove the motherboard.

The ZEROTherm Nirvana NV120 comes with a fan controller that will allow you to dial in what you consider to be the fans ideal speed. You can easily adjust the dial from low (1000 RPM) to high (2600 RPM). You will need to route the controller out of the case via an appropriate opening. This could be done with drilling a small hole in the bottom of the case or in one of the empty PCI cover plates.
