GlacialTech Igloo 5710 CPU Coolers

 Description:

Today we have a couple of CPU coolers in the shop from Glacialtech. They sent over a pair of their Igloo 5710 Series CPU coolers. The 5710 Series cooler is the largest cooler that Glacialtech currently offers and the only difference in the two samples we have today are the fans. One utilizes a silent fan rated at 1600 RPM while the other utilizes a PWM fan rated at 800 - 2600 RPM.

 First Impression:

The Glacialtech Igloo 5710 comes packed in a brightly colored retail box that showcases the companies logo on the fan through a window. The front of the box focuses on its "Multiple Platform" which supports all Intel socket T (LGA775) processors and all AMD socket AM2/ 754/ 939/ 940 processors.

On the rear of the box, you will find a couple of pictures of the Igloo 5710 with the Intel/AMD brackets installed. Just above those are the main features and at the bottom you will see the hardware that is included with the unit. On the side you will find a better listing of which CPU's the cooler supports.

Opening the box we are greeted with the User Manual. The cooler has a protective cardboard insert that holds the top of the cooler in place during shipping. The lower end is nested in a clear plastic tray to protect the pre-installed Intel mounting clips.

Here we have a shot of both the Silent and PWM version of the Igloo 5710 sitting side by side with the Intel brackets removed and the AMD ones installed. As you can see, to the eye, there is no difference in the cooler fan setups. The only way to distinguish the difference in coolers is by looking at the fan connectors. The Silent utilizes the standard 3-pin connector, while the PWM utilizes the 4-pin connector.
