One thing most computer enthusiasts seem to always run out
of is hard drive space. Having an easy solution for backing up your data, or
simply transferring something from one PC to another is almost a requirement
for today’s enthusiast. One thing I have always found to be an issue with hard
drive enclosures is heat. They are compact and barely allow enough room in them
for the hard drive let alone any cooling solutions. Most simply utilize an
aluminum construction to help transfer the heat from the drive to the exterior
of the enclosure. Vantec sent us one of their new Power Management hard drive
enclosures to put through the ringer, the Vantec NexStar 3i.
First Impression:
The Vantec
NexStar 3i comes packed in a informative box that gives any potential owner
enough information to make an educated decision on purchasing the NexStar 3i.
Everything is
neatly placed in the inner box and held in place with a couple of foam pads.
Looking at the picture to the right, we can see everything that comes with the NexStar
3i excluding the installation CD (don’t know where that little thing slid off
to). Included with the NexStar 3i is the User Manual, Base, USB cord, Power
cord, and Installation CD.
Features:
Power Management: Saves Power and Extends Hard drive Lifetime
Built-In Automatic Power Management Processor
Three Intelligent Power Management Modes: Idle/Suspend/Power Down
