Zalman VF900-Cu

Sponsor: Zalman

Price: 49.99

Author: Sheldog23

Published: Wed, Apr-12-2006

 Description:

Zalman releases their new VGA cooler designed as and improvement over the VF700 series.  This new cooler contains more fins and two heatpipes to help whisk heat away from your core.  To find out if this cooler has what it takes to cool todays hardware we put one on a X1800XT PE and ran it through several hours of hardcore gaming. Comparing temperatures from not only to the stock ATI cooler but also Zalman's own Fatal1ty edition FS-V7.

 First Impression:

Today I am going to be taking a look the new Zalman copper VGA cooler.  Zalman has been making decent Video card coolers for some time now.  The most recent ones have been thin copper fins with a fan blowing over them to quickly dissipate the heat.  The last set of coolers that they had run with, the VF700 series was an excellent cooler. Unfortunately it was beginning to get overwhelmed by the newer hotter GPU's that Nvidia and ATI were kicking out.  This is where the VF900-Cu comes in.  Similar in appearance but with more thin rings of copper fins all the way around, and this time with heat pipe technology added as well.

The VF900 comes in a compact cardboard package with the cooler sandwiched in a plastic clamshell inside the cardboard box.  The whole thing is about the size of a Game CD box.  The packaging is fairly plain and not very flashy.  The back side gives you a list of Features and Specifications of the Cooler.  They also have a little window for you to view the "Pure Copper Precision Flat-Milled Base".

FEATURES:

1. Pure copper heatsink base and fins maximize cooling performance.
2. Use of two high performance heatpipes maximizes heat transfer.
3. Circular heatsink formed by radially aligned ultra-thin(0.2mm) fins minimizes airflow resistance
and maximizes heat dissipation surface area for excellent cooling performance.
4. Fan installed in the heatsink cools not only the VGA chipset and VGA RAM, but all other VGA
    components.
5. Does not exert any excessive force on the VGA card due to the product's light weight.
6. Improvement in the installation structure provides excellent compatibility and easy installation.
7. Adjustable fan speed controller(FAN MATE 2) enables control of noise and fan speed.
8. Does not generate noise or vibration in Silent Mode.

SPECIFICATIONS:

- Dimensions : 96(L) X 96(W) X 30(H)mm
- Weight : 185g
- Base Material : Pure Copper
- Bearing Type : 2-Ball
- Speed : 1,350 ~ 2,400rpm ± 10%
- Noise Level : 18.5 ~ 25.0dB ± 10%
