Noctua NH-C12P CPU Cooler

Sponsor: Noctua

Price: 69.95 @ Frozen CPU

 Description:

By now most computer enthusiasts have either seen or heard of Noctua. Their products are very distinct due to the unique color choice for their cooling fans as well as their great performance. Today we are going to be taking a look at the NH-C12P. The NH-C12P utilizes Noctua's newest fan design, the NF-P12. This time around Noctua has decided to use a horizontal design rather than the vertical design like the NH-U12F and NH-U12P.

 First Impression:

The Noctua NH-C12P CPU cooler comes packed in the standard off colored packaging, which isn't flashy, yet it will still catch your eye due to the color choices. The NH-C12P has similar characteristics of the older Noctua units, but also has its differences. The biggest difference on this unit is the new horizontal design, which should give the surrounding area around the CPU better cooling.

Looking around the box, you will find the standard features that the Noctua NH-C12P offers, a brief installation illustration, a couple of charts showing the effectiveness of the NF-P12 cooling fan, and some of the awards that the Noctua line of coolers has won over the years.

Opening up the box, we are greeted with two more boxes. One contains the CPU cooler and cooling fan, while the other contains the mounting hardware and accessories needed to install the cooler.

Looking at the Noctua NH-C12P itself, we can see that it does not conform to the standard look of Noctua's coolers. The NH-C12P weighs in at 550g, which is only 50g less than the previous released NH-U12P cooler, although its considerably shorter and wider. The cooler has the same rigid feel to it that might make one think that it's built to be used on a Hummer. Over the years, I have had my hands on several coolers from several different manufactures. The Noctua coolers are by far the sturdiest coolers of them all, in my opinion. The radical design change should offer greater compatibility with various cases/ motherboard combination as well as offering better cooling for surrounding components.

Features:

6 heat pipes
6 heat pipes, excellently soldered joints and widely-spaced cooling fins guarantee optimal heat dissipation even at low fan speeds.
Excellent compatibility
The down-facing c-type design allows for low height as well as excellent motherboard and case compatibility.
C-type design with Airflow-Gaps
Due to the down-facing design and two large Airflow-Gaps, the NH-C12P provides additional cooling for near-socket motherboard components.
SecuFirm™ multi-socket mounting system
Noctua's professional SecuFirm™ mounting system for LGA 775, AM2 and AM2+ provides superior reliability and contact pressure. K8 (939, 940, 754) kits are available on request.
NF-P12 120mm premium fan
The award-winning NF-P12 has been specifically developed for high-impedance applications such as CPU coolers. Thanks to psychoacoustic optimizations and Noctua's premium-grade SSO-bearing, the NF-P12 achieves exceptional quietness and long-term stability.
Noctua NT-H1 high-end thermal compound
Noctua's much-acclaimed NT-H1 is an pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding long-term stability.
