Synology DS209+ NAS Diskstation

Sponsor: Synology Inc

Price:

Author: Dewayne Carel

Published: Mon, Mar-30-2009

 Description:

Being able to host your own website, FTP, Multimedia Server or other web based products meant that you had to rent a dedicated server. Well those days may be in the past as you can now buy your very own NAS server to do all this work for you and it is actually simpler than you think. Synology Inc has the DS209+ NAS and it is ready to handle all these chores for you.

 First Impression:

Stored in a plain looking cardboard box is the powerhouse DS209+ NAS. At this point and time you have probably  already done all you homework and know what you are looking for so more added details on the box are really not going to help you, but for those that are not familiar with the DS209+ or a home/office based full featured NAS you will need to read on as I will explain it to.

Nested in the like a new baby bird the DS209+ is safe from harms way with padding and cardboard protectors. A minimal amount of space is used (go green) to help save the trees.

All the extras and everything you need to setup the NAS is included in the box, well of course you need your own hard drives, but other than that you are ready to go. The power pack, setup CD and misc needed cables are included.

So what can this unit do? Well lets just say everything and then probably more. Here is a list of the features and specifications.
