 Description:

Thor's Hammer is signalizing the strength and efficiency of our cooler for your overheating Core i7 CPU's. With its 4 8mm Heat-pipes on the H.D.T. Base and the 3 6mm Heat-pipes on the 2nd layer, it is launched as a “World Exclusive Technology Cooler” but also outstanding and great performance. Not only persuades the enthusiasts and worldwide users by performance, but Thor's Hammer is also attractive by its unique and shiny black dedicated.

 First Impression:

Today we are going to look at an interesting new cooler from Xigmatek.  For those of you who don't know Xigmatek is a company founded in 2005 that has been coming out strong in the world of CPU coolers, as well as some awesome products in cooling for Video Cards, Hard drives, Memory among many other great products.  The great thing about Xigmatek is that they are making high quality products at the budget price.  Which is nice these days with the economy all wonky.  The Thor is a step apart from other CPU coolers for Xigmatek because quite frankly their other coolers were more function over form.  Not to say they were ugly but you could say they didn't really stand out of a crowd amongst other Heat Pipe coolers.  The Thor on the other hand is different.  You can tell at first glance that this is a very stylized and polished design.

Before we get too far along with the details of Thor's Hammer lets take a look at the packaging.  I know among all the features of a product the packaging is low on most peoples list but it still is important.  It tells a lot about a company how they design not only the look of the product but also how they present and also protect it inside the packaging.

The Packaging for the "Thor" is very eye catching.  The box is very sturdy with elaborate color changing silver metallic wrapping and animated artwork of the god of thunder himself.  The design conjures up images of medieval times sprinkled with some heavy metal music.  As i write this I think that "Thor's Hammer" could totally be the name of a metal band.  Looking closer at the packaging you see that it has several clear opening that allow you to see parts of the cooler.  The front gives you access to the very distinct nickel plated aluminum fins around the heat pipes.  The bottom side gives you access to the base of the cooler.  Clearly showing off Xigmatek's HDT or Heat-Pipe Direct Touch Technology.  Finally the back of the packaging shows some of the specifications of the cooler as well as a compatibility chart for the CPU's it can be paired with.

Opening the box up we find "Thor's Hammer" sitting neatly inside a clear clam shell packaging.  The clam shell is actually a two part design so there is no cutting involved to free the cooler.  This is nice so you can get to the cooler and inspect it for damage during shipping without ruining the packaging.  This is also nice for someone like me who keeps several of these around.  I can open it back up and put it back in for safe keeping.  Inside the clear package you will find the mounting hardware, brackets, manual and everything else you need to get this baby installed.

Overview:
  • Double layer H.D.T. technology (4x8mm & 3x6mm Heat-pipe) achieves the most strength and efficiency of today's demand of coolers for enthusiasts.
  • Not only provides the extreme cooling performance, but Thor's Hammer also attracts users with particular interlace fins, overall shiny black nickel and Double layer HDT.
