 Description:

Feeling the urge that you need to upgrade that old video card in your system, but trying to avoid spending all that hard earned cash? If so, you just might find yourself looking at something like the Asus EAH5750 Formula 1GB GDDR5 video card. The EAH5750 Formula is one of Asus's flagship 5750 based cards that just might be what your looking for to offer you enough power at a decent price. Will it have what it takes to support your gaming needs? Read on to see how well it performs in our testing.

 First Impression:

Asus EAH 5750 Formula

One of the biggest differences between the Asus EAH 5750 Formula and other reference HD 5750 cards is the heatsink/cooler design. Asus states that the Formula's heatsink/cooler design will give you a 13% increase in cooling power when compared to the reference designed ATI 5750 coolers. This will not only allow your card to run cooler, but it should give the card a little more overclocking potential. With the Formula 1 racing appearance, the cooler offers a more efficient design by utilizing air pressure as well as providing better airflow over the improved heatsink design.

Looking at the retail box, we can see that Asus wants to provide the would be purchaser with as much information as they can. On the front we see Asus is boldly stating that the card runs 13% cooler, just under the model name we see that it has 1GB of GDDR5 memory, supports HDMI, supports Direct X 11 and it runs under the Xtreme Design series. On the rear of the box we have a more detailed feature list along with the system requirements. Across the inside we find more details on the cooling solution. The card and its components are neatly tucked away ensuring that the product reaches its destination without any problems.

Here we have a good look at the cooling solution on the Asus EAH 5750 Formula. While it does have a unique look to it, they have the added cooling performance. The card does require the use of two slots in the system and only requires one PCI-E connection. Another area where the EAH 5750 Formula varies from the reference design is in the output options. The EAH 5750 offers a DVI, a D-Sub, and a HDMI port, while the reference design offers 2 DVI ports, a HDMI port, and a Display port.
