OCZ ModXStream 780W Power Supply

 Description:

     The choices are becoming endless when it is time to choose a power supply for todays demanding computer components. The consumer several things to consider, loudness, output, efficiency, and usability to name just a few. Today we are going to take a look at a unit from OCZ Technology, the OCZ ModXStream power supply. The ModXStreme is available in the 780W configuration as well as a 900W configuration.

 First Impression:

     

     The OCZ ModXStream 780W PSU comes packed in an "explosive" looking box. On the front of the package OCZ lists out the basic features with a little detail on each. On the rear of the box is a little more info on some of the features as well as a list of the included cables so you know what you're getting. On the side you will find the maximum combined power and maximum output current listings.



     Cracking open the box you will see the cables neatly rolled up to the side and secured with a Velcro strap. The manual sitting on top of the PSU, which is in a bubble wrap bag to protect its finish from any scuffs/scratches during shipment. Underneath all that you will find a small bag with the four mounting screws.



     The OEM for this OCZ ModXStream 780W PSU is FSP. The ModXStream is offered in the 780W and in a 900W configuration. The unit utilizes a 120mm clear fan with blue LEDs for cooling. It also offers four 12V rails providing 20A each (Max across all four rails is 60A) and has a 3 year warranty backed by OCZ's exclusive PowerSwap replacement program.

     

     On the left we see the supplied power cable and modular cables nicely rolled up. On the right we have a shot of the OCZ ModXStream manual.
