Killer Networking’s Killer 1550 AC Wireless network adapter announcement.

Exciting times for Killer networking fans. Rivet (Killer) and Intel have partnered up to bring the Killer 1550 AC wireless network adapter. The adapter is being launched at CES 2018 and we have been told the physical hardware should be available later this month. Included below is the official press release from Killer.

RIVET NETWORKS launches the all-new Killer 1550 Wireless-AC Module, a collaboration with Intel that delivers WiFi speeds twice as fast as competing products.
Available now in products from Dell-Alienware and MSI, the Killer 1550 automatically prioritizes game, video and voice traffic while delivering WiFi speeds up to 1.73 Gbps

Austin, Texas – (Jan. 8, 2018) – Rivet Networks, makers of the award winning line of high performance Killer™ networking products for desktop and notebook PCs, is excited to announce the availability of its all new Killer 1550 Wireless-AC networking module, which brings faster than Gigabit wireless speed to gaming systems and motherboards from industry leaders such as Dell and MSI.

The first product introduced as part of a collaboration between Rivet Networks and Intel™, the Killer 1550 is the first PC wireless module to feature 160 MHz support, delivering theoretical max throughput speeds of 1.73 Gbps. This is two times the potential throughput as competing 2×2 wireless devices, giving customers WiFi that is faster than a gigabit Ethernet connection.
The Killer 1550 includes Bluetooth 5.0 and comes packed with Wave 2 11ac features such as MU-MIMO and Transmit Beamforming. Powered by Intel’s latest wireless technology, the Killer 1550 delivers incredibly strong signals to increase WiFi range.

Designed for gamers and performance-minded PC users, the 1550 is the perfect implementation of Killer Networking’s speed, intelligence and control designed into Intel’s most advanced wireless chipset. It automatically detects, classifies and prioritizes critical network traffic for online games, streaming video and high-quality audio for a smooth and enjoyable gaming and entertainment experience. Gamers can expect their gaming traffic to be prioritized above all other traffic, delivered with incredibly low latency.

The Killer 1550 debuts a new and improved Killer Control Center that lets users manage priorities by category in addition to specific applications and websites. The Killer Control Center shows which applications and websites use bandwidth, and enables users to optimize performance by adjusting priorities and setting bandwidth limits. The Killer 1550 automatically detects over 500 popular websites and now allows users to add their own favorite websites to the extensive list of what is already detected.

The Killer 1550 is fully DoubleShot ProTM compatible and can be used in conjunction with Killer Ethernet products to allow users to connect to multiple broadband networks at the same time. Although it works automatically for an optimal experience, users who take advantage of Killer’s DoubleShot Pro technology can customize which applications and websites use the Ethernet or wireless connection.

“The Killer 1550 is the best PC Wi-Fi module in the market,” said Rivet Networks’ CEO Michael Cubbage. “For the first-time, users can now get the absolute best of both Killer and Intel technology. Gamers and performance-minded PC users are going to love both the power and performance the 1550 delivers and the simplicity of how easy it is to use. Alienware and MSI both realize that the best networking experience is critical to their products and they demand the absolute best. The Killer 1550 delivers.”
“Intel is excited to work with Rivet Networks on the Killer 1550 Wi-Fi module,” said Eric McLaughlin, general manager of Intel’s Wireless Solutions Group. “Intel’s industry leading Gigabit Wi-Fi technology coupled with Rivet’s prioritization engine can deliver an enhanced experience and ultra-fast connectivity. This is especially relevant for online gamers and others that demand a blazing fast, robust Wi-Fi connection with the ability to prioritize throughput.”
“Dell is focused on providing the best streaming experiences for our customers whether it’s gaming, watching movies or listening to music,” said Frank Azor, vice president and general manager, Alienware, Dell Gaming and XPS. “We’ve been offering Killer Networking solutions in our Alienware line for years and are excited to introduce the new Killer 1550 Wireless-AC module and the updated Killer Control Center in our notebooks starting today.”
“Killer DoubleShot Pro has helped MSI gamers to play their games smoother and faster than ever before,” said MSI Notebook Sales and Marketing Vice President Eric Kuo. “We are looking forward to even faster and more stable online experiences with the latest Killer 1550.”
