I spent a few weeks with the Epomaker Galaxy100 Lite, as you have to adjust your awareness to a new keyboard. I am sure some of you know what I am talking about: when you go to someone’s house to help them with their PC, you have to type stuff, and that first time you try, it feels unnatural. I was previously using an older AORUS full-size keyboard for many years, so the smaller size of the Epomaker Galaxy100 Lite did feel different, but in a good way.
The appearance of the Epomaker Glaxay100 Lite keyboard is very stylish, and I think it would complement any desk setup. The three forms of connecting the keyboard to your device are a great option, as you can use one keyboard for many devices. Not having to be plugged in gives you freedom and helps clean up the workspace.
The ability to change the input of the keys is a great option, but I wish they had their own software instead of using a 3rd-party configurator. VIA is open source and works well, but in my case, I found that the new offline version (3.0) did not work as well as the online version. With offline software, I had some issues trying to get the software to find the keyboard, but the online editor would find it almost instantly.
Unless you want to reassign some of the keys, there is really no reason to worry about the software, as there are 40+ different styles to choose from, plus the ability to change the colors, speed, and brightness of them all.
On a personal note, the key faces themselves did not light up the letter. For some, this is not a big deal, but I still have the habit of looking down at my keyboard to look for a key, as I am not a 100% touch type person. If the room is dark and I can’t see a key to reference where the letters are, I get lost.
The clicking noise was much less, but still there for that audio confirmation of the keypresses. I do feel that the Galaxy100 Lite would be much more office-friendly with lower key noise. You also still have that tactical feedback from the keys for the second confirmation of depressing of the keys.
