The X-Jupiter is a good sized case. You old school geeks out there will remember full sized towers being much, *much* taller than what we now call a "full" sized chassis. But we were young, and naive. As we have grown older, we have recognized the difficulties with the "original" full sized case, and have since changed our expectations to something big enough to hold all of our gear and then some, but not so big so as to require an engine winch or floor jack to move it.

S or G... window or solid... it's for you to decide... but you'll get the same box whichever you choose!
Full sized by today's standards, it arrived in an attractive box that pulls double duty as it is the same package as is used for the G Type (with side window), so to the uninitiated, you may be a touch confused as to what is in the box. Having both products displayed, Apevia countered this by putting column of check boxes on the sides that show which model it is as well as a sticker on the top designating which version it was (S or G) as well as a solid color circle on the top to help make sure you have picked up the box with the right color inside.

The box has all of the pertinent info on the case, but after dealing with steel cases for the past few weeks, I almost hefted the box through my ceiling! "Oh yeah.... it's aluminum!" That is a funny sensation picking up a case box this size and over compensating! Kinda like when I was stocking groceries many years ago and I was thrown a box that was "supposed" to be heavy... turns out they had just emptied it and I ended up vaulting the box over onto the next isle nearly hitting a late night shopper. After I caught up to my buddy... he was wishing he had thrown me a full box... Heheheh... funny times.... But the picking up this box and the lightness brought that memory back from the dead. It is deceptive. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Opening up the box, I was greeted with a plastic wrapped case with regular Styrofoam. It's a basic form of packing that does the job, but is full of static and leave those little styro-balls all over the place. So I stuck my cat in the box, and let her freak out with the little white styro-balls. It's about all I can think of to do with those sticky lil abominations! I knew I was on to something special when I pulled the case out of the box. My wife called to me from the kitchen, "Oooooo! Pretty! Honey, bring that thing in here where the light is better!" Hehehehe... yeah, this case has that effect on people. :)

I am a big time fan of the color blue. I've been searching for a classy case that is a deep, royal blue, and folks, I think I found it! It is a sophisticated blue in that, is looks anodized (not uber glossy like a paint) and transparent (in that you can make out the brushed aluminum grain of the metal). It has subtle shifts in tint and saturation that give the case color character. I've seen some blue cases that were just painted. The case emits a whistle, but a different whistle than the El Diablo I reviewed earlier. The Diablo was an "aggressive in your face" type of whistle like when you see a good looking muscle car. This is a sleek and classy use of aluminum and mesh. The front door opens and closes with a satisfying "clunk" because the door is made up from what appears to be 2mm bent aluminum. The Apevia name is cut out and back lit with shaped acrylic and an LED. It sophisticated... think Jag or Lexus GS. This case is a looker.
