EVGA Torq X5 Mouse Review: Ambidextrous Design Done Right
EVGA is in the business of providing gaming solutions in the form of video cards and motherboards so it should not come as a surprise when they decided to branch out to offering gaming peripherals. They are also prone to marching to the beat of their own drum so expectations are high whenever they make a product announcement as they are guaranteed to be different than what is out there. Their initial gaming mice entry came in the form of the Torq X10 and it certainly turned some heads with its uncompromising high-quality build but even more surprisingly, it was more affordable than what other established gaming manufacturers have been offering.
The Torq X5 coupled with the Torq X3 and their laser-sensor variants shown earlier this year at CES 2015 are an extension of this peripheral line. The Torq X3 with its Avago 3090 optical sensor and Omron switches represents the budget offering at $39 while armed with a PixArt S3988 6400DPI optical sensor and eight programmable buttons, the Torq X5 is unlike most mainstream gaming mice offering out there with its true ambidextrous design and futuristic metallic white painted top. The compact Torq X5 also continues the competitive pricing at $49.99 while retaining many of the high-end Torq X10’s extras.
