There packaging works, and here is the proof…
When I took delivery of the box from Noctua, I noticed immediately that the shipping box was damaged. I kept the postal guy there (“Hey, uh… I only deliver the box. It was like that before I got it…”, – no worries buddy!). I unpacked the box right there next to the mail truck.
Whatever had damaged the box, made it to the heatsink box, and had punctured it too.
But it did not get to the inner, 3rd level of the box! No fins were damaged from the jolt, and no plastics were cracked. If you remember my last review, I praised Noctua for creating such a good transport mechanism for their heatsinks, and they continue to do so. Anyone offering a warranty like they do (6 years, folks! S-I-X effing years…), needs to insure their products have the best chance of surviving shipment unmolested and in perfect working order, because these things are heavy, and would be expensive to warranty service!
