EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 XC3 Black

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 XC3 Black is one of 5 versions of the RTX 3070 GPUs from EVGA. The XC3 Black comes in two flavors standard and ultra and our sample is the standard. I’ve long held the opinion that the xx70 cards from Nvidia and its partners are the GPUs for “everyone”. Past versions of the xx70 cars have offered a good price to performance ratio. In the past, we’ve seen the xx70s really dominate at 1080p with high or ultra image quality and perform well at 2K, and can game at 4K resolutions. Nvidia’s AMPERE architecture’s performance gains shifts the resolution up a bit and tear through games at 2k and better yet, still play fairly well at 4k. And to recap, Nvidia claimed the RTX 3070 GPU matches the performance of the RTX 2080 TI from the last generation. EVGA takes this a bit further as the XC3 black edition offers a factory overclock compared to the reference card from Nvidia and offers good cooling with the iCX3 cooler sitting on top of the GPU.

Packaging and Specifications

EVGA uses the standard Black and green color theme for the RTX 3070 XC3. On the front of the box, you’ll find a nice graphic representative of the GPU inside. The back of the box details the specifications and features of the GPU as well as giving a bit of information on the Ampere architecture and the GeForce platform.

Inside, you’ll find that EVGA kept it simple. The GPU is housed in clear plastic clamshell housing that is molded to keep the GPU secure while in transport.

With keeping it simple, the only items included are the GPU itself and an installation kit. Right out of the box, the fan shroud as well as the fan hubs have a static plastic covering to protect from scratches and scrapes.
